To rent a car - or not?
You can stay at The Golden Foundation without renting a car.
If you wish to see the surroundings or go to the ocean we recommend renting a car, maybe sharing the expenses with other guests.

Taxi to and from Heraklion
We have a good relationship with Yorgos, a taxi driver, who drives from Heraklion Airport to the site, near Rogdia (destination: 40-45 min) for 40 euros. His wife answers the phone and speaks good English. It’s nice to know that they are very reliable - even if you need to be picked up at 5 in the morning. Call before and order the trip on +30 694 508 3388. In Heraklion the chauffeur will hold up a sign with your name on it. 

Other taxis cost 50 euros and you cannot be sure they know the place and are willing to drive all the way to the site.
The key word to use with them is The Eagle's Nest, the name of our neighbors’ place which is known by more people.
